UPN Veteran Jakarta Releases Third Donation for Aceh and Sumatra Disaster Victims through PMI and Local Partners

UPNVJ Public Relations - Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) released the third shipment of humanitarian aid donations for victims of natural disasters in Aceh and Sumatra. The release was carried out by UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., together with the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems dr. Ria Maria Theresa at the UPNVJ Rectorate Lobby on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. This activity involved collaboration between the academic community through the UPNVJ Care Team to ease the burden on survivors, with delivery via the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Nusantara Ship departing January 3, 2026.

Donations were sent to Medan (Belawan), Lhokseumawe, and Banda Aceh. Distribution was coordinated through the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Samudra University (UNSAM), as a partner of UPNVJ, and the Chairperson of the Indonesian Gayo Bireuen Entrepreneurs Association (HIPGABI) in Aceh to ensure proper targeting. The aid included suitable clothing, mud-clearing equipment such as shovels, brooms, and floor brushes, as well as baby supplies such as diapers and women's necessities such as sanitary napkins. Following UNSAM's request, UPNVJ added mosquito nets for evacuees to maintain their health during the evacuation.

Iksan, a UPNVJ lecturer and Field Coordinator for the UPNVJ Care Team, reported that this shipment follows two previous donations, along with a health team, to Banda Aceh and Sumatra. The initiative demonstrates the university's solidarity in disaster response, focusing on urgent needs such as hygiene and protecting vulnerable populations.

In an official statement, UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., stated, "This deployment strengthens the implementation of National Defense through humanitarian action. UPNVJ is committed to increasing social contributions, supporting the national target of disaster recovery and sustainable development for affected communities," he added.
