Accredited with Excellence, the UPNVJ Medical Faculty's Professional Education Program Expands Graduates' Career Prospects

Public Relations of UPNVJ – The Faculty of Medicine of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) strengthens its commitment to producing professional doctors through the Medical Professional Education Program which prioritizes academic quality, clinical competence, and preparedness to face various health service challenges. This commitment was conveyed by the Coordinator of the Medical Professional Education Study Program, dr. Mila Citrawati, M.Biomed., Sp.KKLP, in an interview on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine. This program has also received Superior accreditation from LAM-PTKes, which confirms the quality of the implementation of medical professional education at the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine.

According to Dr. Mila, the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine's Professional Education Program is designed to address the evolving needs of the healthcare world. In addition to equipping students with strong clinical skills, the program emphasizes preventive medicine and dimensional health sciences as key features. This approach is considered relevant for preparing physicians capable of working in both routine healthcare settings and special situations.

Student competency development is achieved through an adaptive curriculum aligned with national medical education standards. The Faculty of Medicine, University of Nusa Tenggara Barat (UPNVJ), implements a professional medical curriculum based on the Indonesian Medical Competency Standards, incorporating both national and local content to address institutional needs and the development of healthcare services. At the professional level, students undertake clinical training, which plays a crucial role in developing practical skills, clinical reasoning, professional ethics, and communication skills.

During its implementation, students gain a comprehensive learning experience through 20 clinical rotations, including those in public health and disciplinary health sciences. This learning scheme is designed to strengthen clinical competency, broaden healthcare insights, and foster physician preparedness to meet the diverse needs of the community. The disciplinary health sciences content also serves as a differentiator, strengthening the scientific identity of the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine.

In terms of prospects, graduates of the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine's Professional Education Program have broad career opportunities. After completing the professional stage and meeting applicable requirements, graduates are prepared to work as general practitioners, continue their education as specialists, pursue research, become academics, and contribute to healthcare management. The academic background and clinical experience gained during their education also prepare them to serve in both urban and rural areas, making a tangible contribution to equitable healthcare delivery.

Dr. Mila encouraged prospective students who aspire to pursue a career in medicine to join the Faculty of Medicine at UPNVJ. She believes that professional medical education not only produces academically and clinically competent medical personnel, but also graduates with social awareness, integrity, and a spirit of service.

In line with the university's commitment, strengthening the Medical Professional Education Program is part of UPNVJ's efforts to improve the quality of health education that is responsive to the nation's needs. Under the leadership of UPNVJ Rector, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., UPNVJ continues to encourage the development of superior study programs that are relevant to the challenges of the times and provide tangible benefits to society.
