The UPNVJ and GBNI Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Emphasizes Governance, Regeneration, and the Spirit of National Defense

UPNVJ Public Relations – The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) in collaboration with the Indonesian National Defense Movement (GBNI) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and gathering themed “Strengthening Governance in Indonesia through Collaboration between UPNVJ and GBNI” at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus, Saturday (18/4/2026).

This event served as a forum for strengthening networks, consolidating ideas, and affirming the spirit of national defense in supporting national governance. Participants came from various regions across Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua, both in person and online. Of the 53 invitations extended, 31 attended the event in person.

The series of events began with a warm and friendly gathering in a halal bihalal atmosphere. This opportunity provided a meeting place for administrators and participants to strengthen institutional ties and reinforce a shared commitment to developing the values of national defense.

Agung Prabowo, the organizing committee member and Secretary General of GBNI, delivered a report on the event. In his report, he emphasized that the forum was designed to exchange views, unify organizational efforts, and expand opportunities for strategic collaboration between UPNVJ and GBNI.

In his remarks, GBNI Daily Chair Achmad Mansyur emphasized the importance of collaboration, strengthening relationships, and ensuring clear organizational legality as the primary foundations for implementing sustainable programs. He stated that orderly and accountable organizational governance is essential for strengthening tangible contributions to society and the nation.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of UPNVJ and Chair of the GBNI Advisory Board, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, said that every effort in the organization will be a blessing if it is based on good intentions, sincerity, and a spirit of togetherness.

Prof. Venus emphasized that the spirit of national defense must be able to address evolving national challenges, including non-military threats such as proxy wars related to ideology, disinformation, and the weakening of unity. In this context, she assessed that the values of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika remain the most relevant foundations for maintaining the integrity of the Indonesian nation.

He also highlighted that the human resources within the GBNI are a vital asset for the nation. In addition to possessing capacity and authority in their respective fields, GBNI members are considered to possess a patriotic spirit that can be channeled into a social force driving positive change. Therefore, leadership regeneration is deemed necessary to ensure the spirit of national defense can be inherited and maintained sustainably.

Through this activity, UPNVJ affirms its commitment to remain an academic space that not only promotes the development of science but also strengthens national character. In line with the university's vision, collaboration with various strategic elements, such as the National Student Association (GBNI), is expected to expand the campus's contribution to building stronger, more inclusive Indonesian governance, grounded in the values of national defense.

From a university policy perspective, this forum demonstrates that strengthening governance is inextricably linked to character development, leadership, and national awareness. Under Prof. Venus' leadership, the synergy between campuses and community organizations is expected to continue to grow as part of the university's concrete contribution to preparing the next generation with integrity, adaptability, and commitment to the national interest.
