Hosting the FKLPPM Coordination Meeting, UPNVJ Encourages Impactful Research Collaboration Between State Universities in the Western Region

UPNVJ Public Relations – The Forum of Heads of Research and Community Service Institutions (FKLPPM) of the State University Cooperation Agency (BKS-PTN) of the Western Region held a strategic coordination meeting at the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ) in Jakarta on Monday (April 21, 2026). Twenty-four heads of LPPMs from state universities from the Western region of Indonesia attended the meeting to strengthen the synergy between research and community service. The forum focused on developing a more structured, relevant, and impactful collaboration direction for the development of science and the needs of society. Through this meeting, UPNVJ affirmed its commitment as a host in fostering a collaborative research ecosystem between campuses.

The main agenda of the meeting included the development of guidelines for research grants and community service collaboration between the BKS and West Region State Universities, as well as an evaluation of the 2026 research funding policy. This discussion was deemed crucial for strengthening joint program governance, clarifying priority directions, and ensuring that the inter-institutional collaboration scheme runs more effectively.

In his remarks, the Rector of UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., emphasized that collaboration between state universities is a strategic necessity amidst increasingly fierce global competition. He stated that such synergy is crucial for strengthening the achievement of higher education institutions' Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and accelerating the implementation of impactful campuses.

"As the host, UPNVJ is committed to facilitating the creation of a research ecosystem that not only excels academically but also has a tangible impact on society. This synergy between PTN BKS Barat will be a major force for Indonesian innovation," he said.

The coordination meeting also featured a live audience with the leadership of the Directorate General of Research and Development, represented by Prof. apt. I Ketut Adnyana, M.Sc., Ph.D., as Director of Research and Community Service. The LPPM leaders used the audience to constructively convey their collective evaluation of the recently released funding announcement for research and community service programs for the 2026 fiscal year.

The forum not only discussed the technical aspects of funding but also highlighted the need for policy alignment, strengthening proposal quality, equalizing funding opportunities, and encouraging more applicable research outputs. Intercampus collaboration is seen as a strategic avenue for expanding institutional capacity, accelerating the downstreaming of research results, and strengthening higher education institutions' contributions to addressing real-world societal issues.

For UPNVJ, this coordination meeting demonstrates the university's active role in bringing together ideas, interests, and potential collaborations among state universities in the Western Region. This forum also demonstrates that strengthening research and community service cannot be done in isolation but requires a robust, adaptive, and results-oriented collaborative network.

This meeting is expected to provide momentum to improve the quality of research and community service in Western Indonesia. From the perspective of university leaders, this joint effort is crucial to ensure that universities produce not only academic publications but also policies, innovations, and empowerment programs relevant to the nation's needs. UPNVJ views inter-institutional synergy as a crucial foundation for building a superior, collaborative university that increasingly impacts the wider community.
