UPNVJ's Nursing Professional Program Emphasizes Dimensional Health and the OBE Curriculum

UPNVJ Public Relations – The Nursing Professional Education Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ), continues to strengthen its role in producing superior, adaptive, and competitive professional nurses. The program's strengths lie in its focus on health, implementation of an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum, and its core character of national defense. Through this approach, students are equipped with measurable competencies that are relevant to current healthcare needs.

The Coordinator of the UPNVJ Nursing Professional Education Study Program, Ns. Lina Berliana Togatorop, S.Kep., M.Kep., explained that this study program has implemented the latest Indonesian Nursing Curriculum, which is aligned with the OBE approach. According to her, this alignment is an important step so that the learning process not only emphasizes mastery of theory but also ensures that graduates' learning outcomes are in line with the demands of the professional world.

"UPNVJ's Professional Nursing Education Study Program remains committed to providing superior professional education through strengthening health aspects, an OBE-based curriculum, and fostering national defense character," said Lina.

He added that the quality of learning is also enhanced by the support of diverse and high-quality practice areas. The availability of these practice environments provides students with the opportunity to gain comprehensive clinical experience in various healthcare settings. This way, students not only understand the academic aspects but are also trained to face the dynamics of nursing practice firsthand.

In addition, students in the UPNVJ Nursing Professional Program receive intensive mentoring from preceptors and supervising lecturers who have specialized training and extensive clinical experience. This mentoring is crucial in preparing students for professional practice, while also strengthening clinical skills, therapeutic communication, and decision-making in nursing care.

In terms of graduate prospects, the UPNVJ Nursing Professional Education Study Program offers broad career opportunities. Graduates can work in various healthcare facilities, both public and private, with placements in inpatient wards, intensive care units, emergency departments, and specialist clinics. Career opportunities also exist in public health services, such as community health centers and community-based institutions, particularly in strengthening promotive and preventive services.

Furthermore, nursing graduates also have opportunities to work in industry and corporate sectors, particularly in the field of occupational health and safety. Furthermore, the competitiveness of UPNVJ graduates is reflected in the work of alumni who have worked in several countries, including Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Russia. This achievement demonstrates that graduates' competencies are not only relevant nationally but also offer competitive opportunities in a global environment.

Lina also encouraged prospective students to join and develop a professional career in nursing with UPNVJ. "Please join us and become part of the professional nurses who stand for the cause," she said.
