UPNVJ Public Relations – The “Veteran” National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) continues to strengthen its commitment to improving the quality of graduates through the implementation of Competency Assessor Training and Certification.
The five-day event, from May 19 to 23, 2026, was attended by 48 participants, all of whom were UPNVJ lecturers. Participants came from 24 certification schemes that will support the strengthening of competency testing implementation within UPNVJ.
Head of the Academic Support Unit (UPA) of UPNVJ Competency Testing Services, Dr. Kusumajanti, S.Sos., in an activity report delivered at the Opening of the Competency Assessor Training and Certification (19/5/2026) said that the training and certification of prospective assessors presented three master assessors, namely Tati Hendarti, MA, Mesra Betty Yel, and Rr. Bernadetha RH Meindrati.
According to Kusumajanti, of the 48 participants who attended the event, 24 certification schemes were prepared. Some of these were old schemes that were strengthened due to the need for more assessors.
"There was an old scheme, but because the number of assessors was still insufficient, we added more through this activity," he said.
He added that this activity demonstrates the UPNVJ Chancellor's commitment to providing graduates with national competency certification from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). With adequate assessors, the competency certification process for students and graduates is expected to be more optimal and sustainable.
Meanwhile, UPNVJ Chancellor Prof. Anter Venus, who was also present at the opening ceremony, emphasized that UPNVJ has a strong commitment to ensure that all graduates have the quality and competencies that comply with the National Standards for Higher Education (SN Dikti).
According to him, competency certification is an important instrument to ensure that graduates not only have an academic diploma, but also recognition of professional abilities that can be included in the Diploma Accompanying Certificate (SKPI).
"We want UPNVJ graduates to be superior, internationally competitive, and truly master their competencies," said Prof. Venus.
The Chancellor also emphasized the importance of balancing theory and practice in the learning process. He stated that the knowledge students acquire should not be limited to conceptual understanding alone, but should be applicable to solving real-world problems in society and the workplace.
"I want to ensure that at UPNVJ, students are taught both theory and practice. Science is studied not just for the sake of knowledge, but to solve problems, and that requires competence," he stressed.
After delivering his remarks, Prof. Venus presented a souvenir to the Head of the BNSP Secretariat, Moh. Amir Syarifuddin. The event then continued with a brief presentation from the Head of the BNSP Secretariat regarding the implementation of training and certification for prospective assessors.
As part of this series of activities, participants then received hands-on training from master assessors. This training was a crucial step for UPNVJ lecturers to gain the understanding, skills, and readiness to carry out their duties as competency assessors according to BNSP standards.
Through this training and certification program for prospective assessors, UPNVJ hopes to strengthen the competency certification ecosystem on campus. The presence of competent assessors across various certification schemes is expected to support the creation of graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also skilled, adaptable, and ready to compete at the national and international levels.
