UPNVJ Public Relations – The National Defense Literacy Exam, part of the 2026 Independent Selection for the Jakarta National Development University “Veteran” or SEMA UPNVJ, took place on Thursday, June 25, 2026. This exam is one of the important stages in the selection process for prospective new UPNVJ students, specifically to assess participants' understanding of national values, history, national defense, and the spirit of devotion to the nation. Behind the orderly implementation of the exam, there is an inspiring story from Diandra Syafinna Putri Suproto, a participant from Fajar Hidayah IAS High School, who interprets national defense through her dream of becoming a health worker.
Diandra took the National Defense Literacy Exam as part of her quest to enter the UPNVJ Medical and Pharmacy Study Program. For Diandra, the exam is not just a selection process, but also a hallmark of UPNVJ that sets it apart from other universities.
"I think this exam is excellent and differentiating. It provides added value because it broadens our knowledge as citizens about the history and defense of the Republic of Indonesia, beyond just a typical school lesson," said Diandra after completing the exam.
Diandra's decision to choose UPNVJ was also inseparable from her close connection to national values. She admitted she was inspired by her father, a member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), who recommended UPNVJ as her chosen campus.
"I was inspired by my father, who was also a member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and he highly recommended UPNVJ. I also happen to be very interested in Indonesian history. When I learned that the exams at UPNVJ were unique and unlike those at other universities, I was immediately drawn to it as my top choice," he said.
Diandra believes that the concept of national defense can be realized not only through service in the defense sector, but also through real contributions to addressing community needs. She believes the medical profession plays a strategic role in helping the country improve the quality of life for its citizens, especially those who lack adequate access to healthcare.
"For me, defending the country from a medical perspective is about the ability to protect and assist the wider community. We know that there are still people out there who may lack access to adequate healthcare facilities. Becoming a doctor and contributing to the health of the wider community, in my opinion, is a concrete form of national defense," Diandra emphasized.
Diandra's story reflects the importance of National Defense Literacy in UPNVJ's new student admissions process. Through this process, UPNVJ not only recruits prospective students with academic ability but also young people who understand national values, have a social conscience, and are ready to contribute to society.
The 2026 UPNVJ National Defense Literacy Exam was monitored as proceeding smoothly and orderly. The committee ensured that the entire exam process followed regulations, supported by comprehensive technical preparedness, supervision, and coordination.
UPNVJ Rector, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., views National Defense Literacy as a vital part of UPNVJ's identity as a national defense campus. Through this selection, UPNVJ hopes to produce students who not only excel academically but also possess integrity, social awareness, and a commitment to serving the nation in their respective fields of expertise.
