UPNVJ Public Relations - Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) is offering opportunities for information technology professionals, self-taught programmers, diploma graduates, and computer course graduates to gain academic recognition for their mastered competencies. Through Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) in the Undergraduate Information Systems Study Program, work experience, prior education, professional certifications, and project portfolios can be assessed and converted into Semester Credit Units (SKS).
This scheme allows prospective students to earn a maximum of 102 credits, or 70 percent of the total curriculum load of 145 credits. The number of credits recognized is not automatically awarded, but is determined through an assessment of the suitability of competency evidence to course learning outcomes. With maximum recognition, students are projected to complete the remaining coursework in three semesters, or approximately 1.5 years.
This program offers an alternative for information technology workers who want to improve their academic qualifications without having to repeat all the material they've already mastered. To maintain the quality of learning and academic mentoring, the RPL undergraduate program in Information Systems is limited to 35 students.
Prospective students from formal education pathways can apply to the Information Systems Diploma Program or a relevant computer science program. They must submit their diploma, academic transcript, and accreditation documents from their original study program for credit transfer assessment.
Opportunities are also available for high school, vocational school, Islamic high school (MA), or computer course graduates with professional experience. Supporting documentation can include a competency certificate from the National Professional Certification Agency (BKN), relevant international certifications, work experience certificates, project portfolios, system design reports, logbooks, worksheets, and work documentation.
Certifications from institutions such as Cisco, MikroTik, Oracle, Amazon Web Services, Google, and Microsoft can be submitted as proof of competency. However, assessors will still assess the validity, currency, adequacy, and relevance of the certificate to the learning outcomes in the Information Systems Study Program.
Portfolios can also be strengthened with letters of recommendation from superiors or employers, verification reports from employers, and photo and video documentation of work. The more comprehensive and relevant the evidence presented, the stronger the assessor's basis for determining which courses and credits are eligible for recognition.
Supported by Eight Computer Laboratories
The learning process at the Faculty of Computer Science UPNVJ is supported by eight laboratories, including the Immersive and Multimedia Laboratory, Cybersecurity and Networking, Big Data and Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Enterprise System, E-Governance, Internet of Things, and Software Engineering.
The laboratory is equipped with high-performance computers, internet connections, network security devices, sensors and microcontrollers, data analysis software, visualization platforms, and tools to support application development and artificial intelligence.
Bachelor of Information Systems students can develop competencies in three main areas: enterprise application developers, enterprise systems analysts, and enterprise information technology auditors. Graduates are prepared to design multiplatform software, analyze organizational system requirements, and evaluate information technology governance, risk, and security.
The Information Systems Study Program of the FIK UPNVJ Undergraduate Program currently has a Very Good accreditation status and also has FIBAA international accreditation for the 2023–2028 period.
In addition to academic documents and portfolios, applicants must prepare an identity card, RPL form, curriculum vitae, study permit for those working, proof of health insurance, and a statement of commitment to cover tuition fees.
