UPNVJ Public Relations – The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) completed the second day and the entire series of Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) 2026 at the Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 11, 2026. A total of 4,612 new students received training on the actualization of National Defense in the digital era, creativity and the creative economy, alumni experiences, the culture of achievement, to the ability to use technology critically and responsibly. The university-level PKKMB series was closed by UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., who then handed over the new students to the deans to continue the education and development process in their respective faculties.
Carrying the theme "Young People with Character to Defend the Nation, Making a Real Impact on the Nation," the second day of the PKKMB emphasized that students' readiness to enter higher education is not solely determined by academic ability. Independence, creativity, leadership, networking skills, achievement, digital literacy, and integrity are also crucial for students to be able to respond to change and benefit society.
The morning's series of activities began with a flashback of the first day, the PATRIBERA Flashmob Jingle , and performances by faculty representatives. The agenda then entered the session "The Role of Youth and Students in Defending the Nation in the Digital and Modernization Era" which presented the Co-Founder and COO of HMNS Perfume Amron Naibaho and the Founder and CEO of Scarf Media Temi Sumarlin. The session was moderated by the Head of UPA Bahasa UPNVJ Ayunita Ajengtiyas Saputri Mashuri, SM, SE, M.Accy., M.Com.
Addressing the new students, Amron encouraged the younger generation to see economic independence as a tangible contribution to Indonesia. Drawing on his experience building a local perfume business, he encouraged students to not just be a market for other people's products but to boldly produce products and build businesses with added value.
"Indonesia should not just be a buyer, but must become a major producer," said Amron.
According to him, the ability to identify opportunities, adapt to change, and build partnerships are essential for developing a sustainable business. Therefore, students can use their college years to hone their courage to experiment, broaden their experiences, and develop skills not always acquired in the classroom.
Temi complemented this perspective by emphasizing the importance of experience and networking during higher education. She believes students should utilize their time at university to explore their abilities, join organizations, and meet as many people as possible who can broaden their perspectives.
"Success isn't the end, but the process. This opportunity to study won't happen twice, so build on your experience," he said.
He places student organizations as a space for learning leadership because students practice managing responsibilities, conveying ideas, dealing with differences, working in teams, and at the same time learning to listen to others.
The dimensions of creativity and opportunity creation were further reinforced by Kawendra Lukistian, Chairman of the National Creative Economy Movement (GEKRAFS) and Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), through the presentation "Future Makers: Empowering Youth in the Digital Era." Kawendra emphasized that the younger generation is not enough to simply be technology users and product consumers. Students need to be able to transform ideas into works, solutions, innovations, and economic activities that generate added value.
Kawendra stated that mastery of artificial intelligence (AI), programming, and data processing remains crucial, but these skills need to be complemented by creativity, empathy, leadership, collaboration, and adaptability. He also encouraged students to build personal brands , develop portfolios, utilize AI to increase productivity, and expand their networks with the community and industry.
"Create opportunities, don't wait for them," said Kawendra.
Perspectives on life after college were then broadened through an Alumni Sharing Session . This session featured Adam Merdeka, ST, Founder of Ambivers.id; Astantica Belty Stanio, SH, MH, Public Lawyer at LBH Jakarta; Dr. Basra Ahmad Amru from the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI); and Sayed Junaidi Rizaldi, Chairman of the UPNVJ Alumni Family Association.
Moderated by Praptiningsih, SE, MM, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UPNVJ, the session showcased the diverse career paths graduates can pursue. The alumni's experiences also emphasized the importance of building competencies, networks, organizational experience, and professional readiness while still students.
New students also met with their peers who have already established track records of achievement through the Outstanding Students Sharing Session . The session featured Alya Zahra Sabira from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tosan Aji Rifel Pranata from the Faculty of Medicine, Valtritz Khalifah from the Faculty of Computer Science, Faathir Andra Nurali from the Faculty of Law, and Zaki Pramodeya from the Faculty of Engineering.
The session, moderated by Dr. Ir. Nanang Alamsyah, ST, MT, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation at the Faculty of Engineering, UPNVJ, provided a clear picture of how achievement can be built from the beginning of college. In addition to maintaining academic achievement, students have opportunities to develop through competitions, research, organizations, social activities, international programs, and activities to develop interests and talents.
The second day of briefing also placed technological literacy as an important skill for students through the session "Technology Smart, Character for the Nation." The session presented Head of Marketing Communications of PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk Ir. Yefri Hasan Basri, M.IK.; journalist of PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk Vedro Imanuel Girsang, SH; and Director of PT Tempo Inti Media Impresario Ali Nur Yasin.
The session was also led by the leadership of the student affairs and collaboration division of the Faculty of Medicine and FISIP UPNVJ, namely Dr. Erna Harfiani, M.Si., Sp.KKLP. and Musa Maliki, Ph.D.
The discussion on technology emphasizes that digital skills extend beyond the ability to operate devices, use digital platforms, or utilize AI. Students also need critical thinking, the ability to verify information, ethical awareness, and responsibility when producing and disseminating information. Therefore, technology should be positioned as an instrument to enhance human capacity, not a substitute for character, integrity, and critical judgment.
After all the main sessions concluded, UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., closed the university-level PKKMB and handed over the new students to the deans. This momentum marked the end of the university-level introduction phase and the beginning of the process of education, mentoring, and student development that is more closely connected to their respective faculties and study programs.
The second day's series then continued with a Student Activity Unit (UKM) Parade and a Flash Mob UKM that introduced various spaces for developing interests, talents, creativity, organizations, and leadership. The event also featured the Patribera Award, the presentation of impressions and messages from new students, the PATRIBERA Closing Ceremony , and a Guest Star Performance that concluded the UPNVJ 2026 PKKMB series.
Through the 2026 PKKMB (Program Kerja Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia), UPNVJ is encouraging 4,612 new students to pursue not only academic success but also to grow into independent, creative, high-achieving individuals capable of building networks, intelligently utilizing technology, and daring to create opportunities. This foundation is expected to carry the spirit of "Young People with Character, Defending the Nation, Making a Real Impact on the Nation" into students' academic journeys and their contributions to society and Indonesia.
