Public Relations of UPNVJ – The Faculty of Medicine of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (FK UPNVJ) held an International Community Service (PKM) at the Al-Amin Guidance Center in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Friday (4/9/2026). In collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur, the activity provided education on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), handwashing procedures, and proper tooth brushing to Indonesian children from elementary to junior high school levels who studied at the center.
This program aims to foster hygiene and health habits from an early age through practical, easy-to-apply learning. Participants, children of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Kuala Lumpur, participate in a comprehensive series of interactive health education and practices.
The education was provided by a team of academics from the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ, consisting of Dr. dr. Taufiq Fredrik Pasiak, M.Kes., M.Pd.I., MH, CIPA; dr. Sri Wahyuningsih, M.Kes., Sp.KKLP.; dr. Erna Harfiani, M.Si .; Primayanti Nurul Ilmi, B.Sc.Pharm., M.Sc .; and Desi Purwaningsih, S.Pd., M.Si.
The series of activities began with an introduction to the importance of implementing PHBS as part of maintaining personal health. The UPNVJ Medical Faculty team then provided an explanation and demonstration of the correct handwashing steps and proper tooth brushing techniques so the children could practice them independently.
The learning process is delivered through animated videos, demonstrations, and group practice. Participants are encouraged to wash their hands and brush their teeth while singing, making the material more conversational and age-appropriate. This approach also allows participants to engage directly, rather than simply receiving a one-way explanation.
This activity is one of the implementations of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education at the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ, through the use of medical and health sciences to address community needs. The event in Kuala Lumpur also expands the reach of UPNVJ's academic community to Indonesian communities abroad.
Through this International Student Creativity Program, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UPNVJ hopes that the knowledge gained will not stop during the activity but develop into daily habits of maintaining personal hygiene. Instilling the habit of handwashing and maintaining dental health from school age are simple steps that can support children's health and development.
