UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) is strengthening its strategy to enhance its international reputation by strengthening academic quality, research visibility, global collaboration, and academic impact. This effort was realized through the "Enhancing International Reputation" activity featuring Prof. Dr. Anuraga Jayanegara, S.Pt., PgDip., M.Sc., M.Pd., from IPB University as a resource person at the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine Auditorium, Wahidin Building, 3rd Floor, Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, Thursday (3/9/2026).
The event, held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), was part of UPNVJ's strategic initiative to build understanding among the academic community about the importance of a university's global reputation. Strengthening international reputation extends beyond university rankings to include educational performance, research productivity, scientific publications, international networks, and academic contributions to society.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Anuraga Jayanegara emphasized that international reputation is the result of consistently and sustainably built institutional performance. He argued that universities need to ensure that all academic activities have the quality, visibility, and impact recognized by the global community.
"International reputation is fundamentally built on consistent performance. When the quality of education, research, publications, collaborations, and academic impact are strengthened simultaneously, an institution's visibility and reputation will also increase," said Prof. Anuraga.
He explained that research visibility is a crucial factor in strengthening a university's international standing. Research results need not simply be produced; they need to be communicated through appropriate scientific publications so they can be found, read, and cited, all contributing to the advancement of science.
"The research produced shouldn't just be output; it should have visibility and impact. Research needs to be high-quality, published in appropriate channels, and directed toward contributing to science and solving societal problems," he explained.
In addition to strengthening research, Prof. Anuraga highlighted the importance of substantial international collaboration. He argued that cooperation between universities should not be measured solely by the number of documents or memoranda of understanding (MoUs), but by concrete activities that generate academic benefits.
"International collaboration is more than just numbers or documents. More importantly, it involves joint research, joint publications, knowledge exchange, and academic activities that impact both institutions," added Prof. Anuraga.
He also stated that enhancing the university's international reputation is a shared responsibility of all elements of the university. Faculties, study programs, lecturers, researchers, students, and support units all play a role in creating an academic ecosystem oriented toward quality and global competitiveness.
"A university's reputation is not solely the responsibility of one unit or one individual. Reputation is the cumulative contribution of the entire academic community. Therefore, a shared awareness of the indicators and activities that can strengthen the institution's position internationally is necessary," he said.
Through this activity, UPNVJ affirmed its commitment to strengthening the four main pillars of its international reputation: global reputation, research visibility, international collaboration, and academic impact. These four aspects are essential foundations for building a competitive university capable of making broader contributions.
