UPNVJ Public Relations – The rector election for the 2026–2030 term of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) has entered its final phase. Three rector candidates who passed the official selection and screening stages received their ballot numbers following a hybrid drawing process held in the Nusantara 1 Meeting Room on Tuesday (October 6, 2026).
The results of the draw determined *Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MAComm. as candidate for rector number 1**, **Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, SE, M.Si., MH as candidate number 2**, and **Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, SH, M.Ag. as candidate number 3*
The determination of the ballot numbers marks the approaching final stage of the UPNVJ rector election process. The three candidates will then proceed to the third closed session of the UPNVJ Senate, in accordance with the procedures and coordination with the ministry.
The Chairperson of the UPNVJ Chancellor Election Committee for the 2026–2030 Period, Silvia Anggraeni, ST, M.Sc., Ph.D., explained that the Chancellor Election process had gone through a long process, starting from the selection of six prospective candidates until finally narrowing down to three candidates for Chancellor.
"We have now reached the rector selection stage. Previously, we had already conducted the recruitment and screening phase," said Silvia.
Six prospective candidates participated in the previous selection process. Following a closed session of the UPNVJ Senate on July 15, 2026, four prospective candidates were declared to continue the process. The four then participated in a drawing for ballot numbers before presenting their vision, mission, and work program on July 30, 2026.
On the same day, the UPNVJ Senate held another closed session which resulted in three candidates for rector, namely Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, SE, M.Sc., MH, Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, SH, M.Ag., and Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MAComm.
Entering the election stage, the three candidates will again take part in a drawing to obtain the final ballot number which will be used in the next series of processes.
"Currently, there are three rector candidates who don't have a ballot number. So today, we're holding a drawing for the ballot numbers for the UPNVJ Rector candidates for the 2026–2030 period," explained Silvia.
The drawing was conducted openly, transparently, and objectively, and was visible to all prospective rectors and participants in attendance. The process was conducted online using the Spinwheel app as a random drawing tool.
The drawing process takes place in two stages. The first stage determines which rector candidates will be nominated, and the second stage determines the candidate's serial number. This mechanism ensures that all candidates have an equal opportunity in the drawing process.
Silvia emphasized that the determination of the serial numbers was not merely a formality, but rather part of an administrative procedure to ensure transparency throughout the entire UPNVJ Rector Election process.
"This serial number is actually part of an administrative procedure to maintain transparency," he said.
After the drawing, Silvia said that the entire process went smoothly and hoped it would provide a good foundation for the next stage.
"Thank God, the drawing of the candidate numbers for the UPNVJ Rector for the 2026–2030 term was held today, and it went smoothly. May it bring goodness to everyone," he said.
"Hopefully, this will be beneficial for the next process, namely the interviews for the rector candidates and then the third closed session of the UPNVJ Senate, which will determine who will be the elected rector for the 2026–2030 period," Silvia continued.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the UPNVJ Senate, Dr. Irsyaf Marsal, MH, said that UPNVJ continues to coordinate with the ministry regarding the next stages, including the interview agenda for the rector candidates and the timing of the election.
"We have reached the rector selection stage after the recruitment and screening process. We continue to coordinate with the ministry," said Irsyaf.
According to him, the drawing of ballot numbers was carried out first as a precautionary measure so that the Pilrek stages would not be too close to the final deadline of the election process on October 24, 2026.
"The drawing of these ballot numbers is absolutely necessary. We're concerned about the tight timing of the election, considering the rector election ends on October 24th. We're anticipating this by holding a drawing first," he explained.
Irsyaf emphasized that the entire process will continue to be communicated and coordinated with the ministry to ensure that the implementation of the Rector Election runs according to applicable procedures and provisions.
With the official nominations for the three candidates, the 2026–2030 UPNVJ Rector Election has now entered a crucial phase, leading to the final determination. All subsequent processes will proceed according to established mechanisms and in coordination with the ministry.
