Encouraging Patents, LPPM Holds Webinars for Downstreaming and Commercialization of Research and Innovation Intellectual Property

HumasUPNVJ - As a research effort that can later be patented and can compete with industrial products, UPN Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) through the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) discussed it in the Downstreaming and Commercialization of Research and Innovation Intellectual Property Webinar which was held on Thursday (26 /08/21).

In this case Sri Lestari Wahyuningroem, MA., Ph.D, as Chair of the UPNVJ LPPM said this was very important to be discussed by UPNVJ lecturers and experts with the aim of increasing patentable research and innovation products.

"Currently we have 3 patents owned by UPNVJ and we hope that next year there will be more and for sure there will be 2 patents that are still in process" explained the Head of LPPM.

"In this case, we still have a lot to learn, so with this opportunity we will learn a lot based on the experience that was carried out previously by the resource person. In the future, I hope there will be further consultations to help and direct according to existing procedures," he hoped.

In this very valuable discussion, the lecturers at UPNVJ had the opportunity to have direct discussions with two expert speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST. M. Eng Director of Intellectual Property Management, Plt. Director of Research and Community Service, Deputy for Strengthening Research & Development, Ministry of Research and Technology-BRIN and Ahmad Gamal, S. Ars, M.Sc, MUP, Ph.D (Director of Innovation & Science Techno Park (DISTP) University of Indonesia.

In his discussion Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah emphasized performance targets that must be achieved before making research and innovation plans, process stages that can be carried out, collaborations that can be carried out for technology and product development, and how to carry out permits and foreign research collaborations.

With this discussion it is hoped that the mindset on the importance of intellectual property rights from research results will continue to be embedded, by registering research patents, so that later they can be marketed to the public.
