At the beginning of his speech, Jamal, who is also the Chancellor of UNS, presented a report regarding the implementation of Face-to-Face Lectures (PTM) in Higher Education.
He is grateful, the situation and conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic are gradually improving and most parts of Indonesia have entered Level 3.
"Taking into account these conditions, the fellow Chancellors of the MRPTNI members agreed at the beginning of this semester to carry out a trial run of PTM in stages and conditionally," he said.
Jamal also reported regarding the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination in Higher Education. To support the success of the National Vaccination program, he continued, all universities with extraordinary support from the local Regional Government, TNI/Polri Institutions, Alumni Associations and Faculty of Medicine, have carried out massive vaccinations for their academic community.
However, given the large number of state university academics who must be vaccinated, not all of them have had the chance to get the vaccine.
"Hopefully Mr. President is willing to work on accelerating vaccination in universities," he said.
Regarding the role of higher education institutions in efforts to prevent and control Covid-19, Jamal said that the totality of higher education institutions in dealing with changes in the pandemic era is not in doubt.
Among them, said Jamal, is the development of various virtual learning model platforms. This is to respond to changes in the learning system due to the pandemic, including changing the culture of digital-based higher education management.
"In the field of research innovation, higher education institutions have succeeded in triggering the positive energy of their research. Namely by making creative leaps and innovations so as to produce thousands of research variations and innovation prototypes, including inventions for handling and controlling the Covid-19 virus," he explained.
Jamal also added that actually there are many other topics that he wants to convey. For example, regarding the new paradigm of higher education autonomy, improving the quality of human resources for lecturers and graduates, collaboration and synergy between universities and industry, the balance between lecturer and student ratios and the Implementation of Free Learning-Independent Campus and others.
"However, due to the President's limited time in Solo, we, the Chancellors, agreed to reschedule this kind of meeting in the future," concluded Jamal.
