HumasUPNVJ - The Faculty of Computer Science, National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (FIK UPNVJ) held an inspiring seminar entitled “Awakening Your Potential: Finding Your Identity and Achieving Success in the Digital Era” at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
This seminar is one of the important agendas in the series of celebrations of the 30th Anniversary of FIK UPNVJ. This activity aims to equip the academic community, especially students, to recognize their potential and build a positive self-image in facing the increasingly complex challenges of the digital era.
Presenting Sandra Erawanto, S.STP., M.Pub.Pol.—a professional trainer, teacher, and consultant—the seminar was attended by 80 participants from among lecturers and students across FIK UPNVJ study programs.
In his remarks, Dean of FIK UPNVJ Prof. Dr. Ir. Supriyanto, ST, M.Sc., IPM., emphasized that success in the digital era is not only determined by technological skills, but also by personal qualities such as adaptability, critical thinking, integrity, and added value given to the surrounding environment.
“Potential often lies dormant behind doubt and fear of failure. Finding one’s identity is a long process full of meaning. Only by knowing who we are can we move more surely towards success,” said Prof. Supriyanto.
In her presentation, Sandra Erawanto discussed the importance of understanding global ethics and culture, especially for students who plan to study abroad. She highlighted differences in communication methods, personal boundaries, and socializing styles across cultures.
“Understanding cultural differences is essential to avoid misunderstandings that can have negative impacts, both socially and academically. Global ethics help us build a professional and positive self-image,” Sandra explained.
According to him, ethics and global cultural insight are also important provisions in establishing healthy international relations and opening up opportunities for cross-country collaboration.
Students not only get theory, but also real practice through discussions, case studies, and interactive simulations that strengthen understanding.
Sandra also emphasized the importance of caution in using social media.
"What you say or write on social media will have an impact on your self-image. Positive words will come back as good things, and vice versa," he concluded.
