HumasUPNVJ - The fourth day of the visit of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) to the University of Poitiers in France on April 17, 2025 was marked by an important agenda that emphasized strategic collaboration in humanitarian projects, strengthening joint research, and introducing campus facilities that encourage inclusive internationalization. All of these activities are part of the Erasmus Plus International program that fully funds UPNVJ's participation.
The morning agenda began with a discussion session on the EUNIVERSE Project, an initiative of the University of Poitiers aimed at supporting the mobility and integration of international students and refugees in the academic community. The project is coordinated by Camille Sauvage from the Service Universitaire des Relations Internationales et des Étudiants Étrangers (SURIEE) and funded by Erasmus+.
The discussion highlighted the University of Poitiers’ holistic approach in building a campus ecosystem that is welcoming to all backgrounds, involving the active participation of academic staff, administration, as well as local and international students. The UPNVJ delegation expressed appreciation for this inclusive model and explored the possibility of adopting similar practices in the UPNVJ campus environment.
After the EUNIVERSE session, the event continued with a presentation by Gaëlle Stuit, Director of CAREL (Centre Audiovisuel de Royan pour l'Étude des Langues)—a center for audiovisual language studies located in Royan, France. CAREL is an accredited institution that has long focused on technology and multimedia-based foreign language teaching, specializing in intensive training for students, teachers, and professionals from various countries.
In her presentation, Gaëlle introduced CAREL's flagship programs including teaching French as a foreign language (FLE), language training for academic and professional purposes, and opportunities for collaboration with higher education institutions abroad. CAREL is also a strategic partner of the University of Poitiers in supporting the language readiness of international students before starting their studies in France.
After the presentation session, the UPNVJ delegation was invited to tour La Ruche Bibliothèque, one of the interactive learning centers and libraries of the University of Poitiers which is a symbol of innovation and open access to knowledge. This facility integrates digital technology and collaborative spaces that support independent and project-based learning.
The afternoon agenda continued with a joint research discussion between the Rector's Staff for Internationalization, Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara, Ak., CA. and Prof. Sophie Nivoux, a lecturer and senior researcher at the University of Poitiers. The focus of the discussion included strategic topics such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), competitive business strategies, and comparative capital market analysis between ASEAN countries and France.
In the discussion, both parties agreed on a joint research development plan that will be followed up through a presentation at the ATLAS international conference and the Euro-Asia Conference in 2026.
In addition to discussing academic topics, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan Sitorus, ST, MT, conveyed one of the strategic programs of the UPNVJ Rector, namely the Adjunct Professor Program to Prof. Sophie Nivoux. This initiative was welcomed very positively, and opens up opportunities for cross-country teaching collaboration between UPNVJ and the University of Poitiers in the future.
As the closing of the fourth day's series of activities, the UPNVJ delegation attended an official dinner hosted by Stéphane Mottet, Vice-Présidente chargée des relations internationales (Vice President for International Relations) of the University of Poitiers, together with the International Office staff.
This warm and friendly atmosphere strengthens the collegial relationship between UPNVJ and the University of Poitiers, affirming the spirit of collaboration that is not only institutional in nature, but also builds a close network between academics.
The fourth day of UPNVJ's visit to the University of Poitiers was concrete evidence of the commitment of both parties to building progressive international cooperation, oriented towards research with global impact, and strengthening the values of inclusivity in higher education.
UPNVJ is firmly moving towards achieving its vision as a world-class campus that is collaborative, cultured, and has an international outlook.
