Public Relations of UPNVJ - Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a ceremony to commemorate National Education Day on Friday, May 2, 2025. As a campus with the identity of National Defense, UPNVJ routinely holds ceremonies every month and every major holiday.
Different from previous routine ceremonies, the participants of the ceremony wore traditional clothes from various regions in Indonesia. This was done as a form of love for the homeland which has cultural diversity.
In acting as the ceremony instructor, Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan Sitorus, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
"Today we commemorate National Education Day 2025 in an atmosphere full of enthusiasm and hope. But more than just a ceremony, this commemoration invites us to pause, look at the world honestly, and ask: where are we heading?" asked Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan as the ceremony instructor.
"We live in a world that is facing extraordinary challenges. These challenges are known as wicked problems, global problems that are complex, interconnected, and cannot be solved by ordinary means," he continued, reading the speech of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
“The climate crisis, economic inequality, the digital revolution, the crisis of social trust, and the disruption of values and jobs caused by artificial intelligence, all demand that we rethink, and act together,” added Dr Henry.
In this speech, the ceremony instructor also highlighted education as a strategic basis for advancing a nation.
"Education is not just a place to learn. It is the heart of civilization. Education is a space where
reason, character, and the future of the nation are formed. Education is the birthplace of awareness and collaboration, two things that we really need today," said Henry.
National Education Day 2025, which carries the theme "Universal Participation Realizes Quality Education for All," is a call to move together.
"Because education cannot be done alone. The government needs support from the community. Schools need synergy with families. Campuses must be closely connected to the business world and the community so that we are all sustainable," said Henry.
He loudly invited all elements in UPNVJ to strengthen synergy and commit to building education.
"Let us make this National Education Day a starting point to strengthen synergy and expand impact. Let us affirm our commitment to building education that is not only quality, but also equitable, relevant, and pro-future," he said.
Closing his speech, Henry quoted the statement of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. "Only a nation that masters science and technology will become a prosperous nation. Education is the foundation of that mastery," he concluded.
