HumasUPNVJ - The Riau Sastra Community officially appointed Dr. Azwar, M.Sc., one of the lecturers in the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (FISIP UPNVJ), as the Board of Experts through Decree Number 504/SK/KRS/II/2025.
This appointment is part of the community's efforts to strengthen the preservation, development, and promotion of Malay literature and culture in Riau Province last February.
Dr. Azwar, M.Sc., was appointed as the Expert Council with expertise as a literary critic. In the decree signed by the Chairman of the Riau Sastra Community, Azhar B Gultom, it was stated that the Expert Council has a strategic role to provide direction, input, and suggestions in supporting the community's vision and mission, especially in the field of Malay literature and culture.
"Considering the importance of the involvement of academics and practitioners in preserving cultural heritage, we have appointed Dr. Azwar, M.Sc., as part of the Expert Council. He has the experience and expertise that we really need," said Azhar B Gultom, General Chairperson of the Riau Sastra Community, when met in Jakarta, Monday, May 19, 2025.
The term of office of the Board of Experts is set for three years and can be extended according to the needs and approval of the Riau Literature Community. This determination is expected to be a positive momentum for strengthening the literary ecosystem in Riau through collaboration between academics, communities, and the wider community.
Responding to the appointment, Dr. Azwar, M.Si., expressed his gratitude and commitment to this new responsibility.
"I am honored to be entrusted as the Expert Council of the Riau Sastra Community. God willing, I will actively contribute not only to the progress of this community, but also to the progress of Indonesian literature and culture more broadly," said Azwar.
The Expert Council of the Riau Sastra Community consists of cultural figures, writers, literary critics, and academics both from Riau and from various other regions in Indonesia. They will contribute according to their areas of expertise to strengthen Malay culture and literature in particular and Indonesian culture and literature in general.
This appointment is also a source of pride for the academic environment of the Prodikom, FISIP, UPN Veteran Jakarta, which continues to encourage its lecturers to actively contribute to socio-cultural activities at the local and national levels.
