HumasUPNVJ - Chancellor of the Jakarta Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ), Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, welcomed the visit of the Mayor of South Jakarta Muhammad Anwar at the Pondok Labu Campus, Monday, June 16, 2025. In the meeting, the two discussed a number of potential collaborations, ranging from household waste management to disaster mitigation and handling stunting in the area around the campus.
Prof. Venus conveyed UPNVJ's commitment to actively participate in organizing the environment and supporting city government programs, especially in important moments such as school and hospital accreditation.
"We have experience in helping hospitals during accreditation, including in greening and area planning. We are also ready for the area around the campus," he said.
One of the main topics discussed was household waste management. UPNVJ representatives from LPPM explained that several faculties have developed recycling tools for organic and non-organic waste, as well as food waste processing.
"We want to localize the technology so that it can be used at the household level. The hope is that the sub-district can facilitate one unit of the device that can be operated by residents," said representatives from the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Muhammad Anwar responded positively to the initiative and suggested that UPNVJ write directly to him to map out a concrete form of collaboration. He cited the approach that had been taken with the Depok City Government as an ideal example.
"In Depok, we sit together to set five-year targets. Scholarships, research, and community service are all measurable and connected to regional needs," he explained.
He also emphasized the importance of mapping the problems in each region before designing an intervention program. "Don't let us be like doctors who make the wrong diagnosis. We have to know where the disease is, then we can treat it," he said.
