Public Relations of UPNVJ – The Information Science Study Program conducted its first field assessment in the implementation of study program accreditation held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of the National Veteran Development University of Jakarta (UPNVJ) which took place from June 30 to July 1, 2025.
The implementation of the field assessment was attended by two speakers from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya, M.Si from Telkom University, Bandung, and Saepudin Nirwan, Ph.D from the University of Logistics and International Business, Bandung.
The Rector and Dean of FISIP UPNVJ along with their staff were also present at the accreditation of the Information Science Study Program. Also attended by the Coordinator of the Information Science Study Program Radita Gora, along with permanent lecturers of the Information Science Study Program FISIP UPNVJ.
"The Information Science Study Program can be said to be a pioneer and has only been established for three years but has experienced very rapid progress. The interest or enthusiasm of prospective students which was previously only 300, has now shot up rapidly to more than 100% reaching 1446 prospective students," said UPNVJ Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anter Venus in his speech.
"This means that the number of Information Science enthusiasts in two years has experienced an extraordinary increase. Now is the time for the Information Science Study Program to be accredited and we hope to get a Very Good accreditation," he continued.
"Field accreditation is the first for this Information Science study program as an effort to strengthen the accreditation status in the form of the responsibility of the University to Students in order to obtain the legal status of accredited Student/Student graduation and meet all procedures, criteria and standards that have been set by BAN-PT and the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology," said Dean of FISIP UPNVJ Bekti Istiyanto.
"This higher education accreditation activity is not a means of judging study programs carried out by assessors, but rather an effort to monitor the implementation of lectures during the last two years, including the current semester year and the previous semester year," he added.
In line with that, Prof. Adiwijaya, the main assessor of the implementation of the Field Assessment, said that this accreditation is also to monitor the quality and quantity of the Information Science Study Program.
In addition, the compactness and solidity of all UPPS (Study Program Management Units) in advancing the Information Science Study Program in managing the Study Program and being able to support the success of the University and Students in the future.
"This accreditation process reviews various learning activities, especially those related to the Graduate Profile and the urgency of establishing the Study Program, then the Vision, Mission, Objectives and Strategy, assurance of the Quality of Study Programs and Faculties, and the suitability of the curriculum to the needs of industry or the world of work," said Prof. Adiwijaya.
Saepudin Nirwan, BAN PT Assessor also added that the UPNVJ Information Science Study Program has a uniqueness as a pioneer study program in Indonesia with the name Information Science, and also when it was established as the only study program in Indonesia. The curriculum also has a uniqueness, namely multidisciplinary social sciences, computers, and communication science.
"Although the Information Science Study Program applies Multidisciplinary, the lecturers also need to be varied, not only from one field of science, but also from multidisciplinary sciences. The IT approach is also present here. So it is important in this data preservation mission that students learn not only in the theoretical realm, but also the practicum is needed to support it," he concluded.
The series of accreditation activities for the Sans Information study program were mostly carried out on the first day. After a long series of assessment processes that dissected the Self-Evaluation Report and the Study Program Performance Report, interviews were then conducted with stakeholders involved such as five students who were interviewed including students with academic and non-academic achievements, interviews with Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) partners with Hazan Ashari from Swanstatistika, then lecturers of the Study Program who were involved in teaching in the Information Science Study Program.
As a result, the handover of the Minutes of the Implementation of the activity was carried out, then the reading of the Minutes and the handover of the results of the clarification of the minutes, only then on the second day was the agreement on the Joint Minutes and the closing session at the end of the event included.
