UPNVJ Public Relations – Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar encouraged new students of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Veteran National Development University Jakarta (FEB UPNVJ) to play an active role in realizing national economic independence. This message was delivered at the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) event in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 13, 2025).
In his speech, Abdul Muhaimin, known as Cak Imin, emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the demographic bonus, which will last until 2035. He called the younger generation the driving force of the nation's economy. "We have limited time to prepare before the productive-age population declines. Young people must become strong economists who bring significant energy to Indonesia," he said.
Cak Imin highlighted global challenges such as geopolitical conflict, trade competition, and economic uncertainty, which demand Indonesia's independence. He linked this to the ideals of the nation's founders, stated in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, namely to achieve independence, sovereignty, justice, and prosperity. "Economic policy must be based on these principles to manage domestic potential for the welfare of the people," he said.
Referring to Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, he emphasized that natural resources must be managed by the state for the prosperity of the people. "Land, water, and natural resources are a trust that must be safeguarded together," he stressed.
Cak Imin also encouraged UPNVJ FEB students to become patriotic and ideological economists. "Start by understanding reality, combining theory with facts, and serving the nation," he advised. He encouraged students to utilize science and technology as a foundation for building economic independence.
This event provides a platform for new students to embrace the spirit of building a national economy based on the nation's noble values. Cak Imin hopes they will consistently maintain their integrity and dedication to Indonesia's progress.
