UPNVJ Public Relations - Gojek's Head of Brand Activation, Sponsorship & Partnership, Intan Asmara Dewi, invited thousands of new students of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) to utilize technology and social media to elevate local Indonesian stories to the world stage.
According to Intan, packaging culture in a creative and relevant way for the younger generation is a form of modern national defense.
In a public lecture at the UPNVJ PKKMB at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, August 11, 2025, Intan cited the Pacu Jalur tradition, which has existed since the 17th century. This traditional longboat race from Riau is now gaining popularity globally thanks to its unique movements.
To liven up the atmosphere, Intan invited five new students to demonstrate the Pacu Jalur movements on stage, sparking the enthusiasm of participants who felt close to the culture.
"Local culture can go global if it's packaged in an iconic, authentic, and relevant way. Technology is a new weapon for young people to achieve this," said Intan.
He emphasized that popularizing Indonesian culture in the digital era is not only about preserving heritage, but also defending the nation in a way that is appropriate to the times.
In front of 4,500 new students, Intan invited the younger generation to be brave in promoting the richness of Indonesian stories, including fairy tales, folk tales, and traditions, to the global level.
"Let's defend the country with technology. Let's defend the country with icons," Intan concluded.
