Achieving the Dream of Studying Abroad: Inspirational Stories of UPNVJ FEB Students in Harmoni Abroad 2025

UPNVJ Public Relations - Amidst the enthusiasm of Indonesian students to explore global education, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ) Jakarta held a virtual event, Harmoni Abroad 2025, on Saturday (September 27, 2025). Through the Zoom platform, more than 265 participants joined the inspiring session, themed "Building Dreams, Study with Harmoni Abroad." This event, organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of FEB UPNVJ, aimed to open insights into scholarship opportunities and international student exchange programs, while highlighting the personal journeys of scholarship recipients.

One of the most striking moments came from Martha Caroline Agatha, an Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) awardee currently studying at Lancaster University, England. Martha shared her transformational experience, where studying abroad is not just about academic grades, but rather a profound process of self-discovery and character building. "Academic study is not just about pursuing grades, but also a journey of self-discovery, character building, and understanding life's purpose," she said, inspiring many participants to explore similar opportunities. She also explained the IISMA requirements in detail, including English test scores, a minimum GPA of 3.0, and strategies for passing the selection process, from registration to the announcement.

Equally inspiring, Salma Asla Salsabila, Chair of Generasi Baru Indonesia (GenBI), and Akhdanaila Hikmah, a fellow GenBI scholarship recipient, outlined practical steps to achieving the scholarship. They emphasized the importance of an authentic motivation letter, as well as long-term benefits such as financial support, soft and hard skill development, professional networking, and career opportunities. The interactive talk show session allowed participants to ask questions directly, creating a space for dialogue that built confidence for those aspiring to study abroad.

Daffa Ryuki, the event's chief executive, explained that Harmoni Abroad 2025 was designed to empower UPNVJ FEB students to face global competition. "We want to help them prepare their application documents and hone skills such as public speaking, leadership, and critical thinking," he said. This event reflects the students' collective passion for not only achieving academic success but also building bridges to a brighter future through international experiences.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers and a game session that strengthened the bonds between participants. For many students, this activity marked the beginning of their personal journey, proving that dreams of global study can be realized with preparation and perseverance.
