Two UPNVJ Lecturers Win at International Drone Technology Competition in Russia

Public Relations of UPNVJ – Dr. Damora Rhakasywi, ST, MT, IPP., CIQnR from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) and Dr. Didit Widiyanto, S.Kom., M.Sc. from the Faculty of Computer Science (FIK) of the Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) won the Drone Assembly and Electrical Engineering track at the International High Tech Future Skill Competition 2025. The competition took place from November 10 to 14, 2025, in Yekaterinburg, Russia. This achievement was achieved through an innovative design of a cheap and efficient retractable UAV landing gear, marking international recognition of Indonesia's capabilities in the field of aerospace technology.

A team of UPNVJ lecturers designed a landing gear system for a UAV that can be automatically retracted and deployed. This design was tested in a competition that emphasized the development of subsystems until the UAV system is operational. Its main advantage lies in its fully computerized operation using an Arduino UNO-class microcontroller, which costs around Rp100,000 and is readily available, and a custom RTOS operating system developed for specific needs.

Team participation is driven by the significant benefits of recognition from other countries for team and individual expertise. Furthermore, this achievement strengthens Indonesia's reputation in strategic high-tech fields such as UAVs. The competition opens on November 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM and closes on November 14, 2025, with a similar schedule. It involves international participants to drive future technological innovation.

This activity is expected to provide opportunities for UPNVJ to make real contributions to engineering with global impact. This rare opportunity broadens the horizons of engineering research with immediate application, transforming research from mere scientific papers into industry-ready prototypes.

Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, Rector of UPNVJ, stated, "This achievement aligns with UPNVJ's vision as a center of excellence for patriotism-based education. We encourage global innovation policies such as the development of UAV technology to strengthen national aerospace sovereignty, open wider international collaboration, and translate research into real industrial solutions.
