UPNVJ Public Relations – The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) strengthens its commitment to driving academic governance transformation through participation in the 2026 Indonesian State Universities Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Forum. The forum will take place on September 16–18, 2026, at Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Makassar.
UPNVJ was represented by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the forum, which brought together academic leaders from various state universities in Indonesia. The event carried the theme "Transforming Higher Education Academic Governance: Strengthening Student Success, Student Admissions Governance, Graduate Competence, and Selection Integrity."
The forum addressed several strategic issues in higher education, including the Education Efficiency Rate (AEE) and student success, new student admissions governance, graduate competencies, and the integrity of the selection process. Seventy-five universities registered as participants, with 46 attending the discussion at the Unhas Hotel and Convention Center, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar.
The discussion on student success highlighted the importance of an academic system capable of identifying students at risk of delaying their studies and providing appropriate support. Meanwhile, the student admissions management discussed the proportion of capacity through the National Achievement-Based Selection (SNBP), National Test-Based Selection (SNBT), and Independent Selection, taking into account the quality of input and student academic success.
The forum also discussed strengthening graduate competency standards to align them with learning outcomes, learning processes, assessments, and workplace needs. Regarding selection integrity, discussions covered system strengthening, participant authentication, process security, oversight, fraud detection, and follow-up mechanisms.
The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) also received attention in the discussions. Universities are encouraged to establish AI governance that supports the learning process while maintaining academic integrity. This situation also encourages adjustments to learning and assessment strategies to measure learning processes, critical thinking skills, and student accountability for their work.
In his opening remarks, Hasanuddin University Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., emphasized the importance of increasingly data-driven and achievement-oriented higher education management. Academic governance needs to be viewed holistically, from the quality of student input, academic processes, research outputs, and graduate quality.
The results of the forum discussions were then formulated into a policy brief and national recommendations as input for the development of higher education policy. On September 17–18, 2026, participants participated in group discussions and presentations on student success and AEE, new student admission capacity, graduate competency, and selection integrity.
For UPNVJ, participation in this forum provides a momentum to strengthen networks among higher education leaders and incorporate the results of national consolidation into internal policy development. This strengthening encompasses student success, new student admissions management, curriculum and graduate competency development, academic digitalization, and academic integrity and the selection process.
