UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) continues to strengthen its academic quality, research, internationalization, governance, and student achievement. As of September 2026, 23 study programs, or 51 percent of all UPNVJ study programs, had achieved Excellent/A accreditation, while 42 percent had achieved international accreditation. These achievements and development agendas were presented during a routine UPNVJ ceremony at the Pondok Labu Campus Ceremony Field, South Jakarta, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Acting as the ceremony instructor, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems of UPNVJ, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Sp.KJ., MH, conveyed the five main developments of the university, namely improving academic and institutional quality, building campus facilities, strengthening research and community service, internationalization, and student governance and achievements.
"First and foremost, let us offer praise and gratitude to the presence of Allah SWT, the Almighty God, because of His grace and blessings, we are still able to attend the regular ceremony at UPN 'Veteran' Jakarta," said Ria, starting her speech.
23 Study Programs Achieve Excellent/A Accreditation
In the academic field, the number of study programs with Excellent/A status increased to 23. These additional achievements include the Nursing Undergraduate Program, the Nursing Professional Program, and the Political Science Undergraduate Program, which received Excellent Accreditation.
At the same time, as many as 42 percent of UPNVJ's study programs have been internationally accredited, strengthening the university's efforts to improve educational standards and competitiveness at the global level.
Academic development is also marked by the opening of the Logistics Engineering Undergraduate Study Program in 2026. The presence of this new study program under the Faculty of Engineering increases the total number of UPNVJ study programs from 44 to 45 study programs.
Pondok Labu Campus Continues to be Developed
In addition to improving academic quality, UPNVJ is currently carrying out a number of facility improvements at the Pondok Labu Campus to improve the comfort of the academic community.
The work includes the arrangement of parking areas and pedestrian paths, development of park areas, construction of FEB and FISIP canteens, relocation of the State Property (BMN) warehouse followed by renovation into a Student Lounge, and the addition of sports facilities in the form of pull-up bars.
The university also renovated the Student Activity Unit (UKM) secretariat, built a pedestrian path behind the Faculty of Law and Student Lounge, and prepared a canteen tenant in the area behind the UPN Business Hub.
"We are carrying out all this work in stages to create a more representative campus space and provide greater comfort for students and the entire academic community," said Ria.
UPNVJ apologizes to the academic community if the construction process temporarily impacts access, campus traffic, or the comfort of lectures. The support of the entire campus community is needed to ensure the development process can proceed optimally.
UPNVJ Accelerates Scientific Research and Publication
Strengthening research and publications is the next priority. Currently, UPNVJ manages 60 scientific journals, with 17 accredited by SINTA and 10 indexed by DOAJ.
Of the 17 accredited journals, three journals are at SINTA 2, five journals are at SINTA 3, four journals are at SINTA 4, and five journals are at SINTA 5. Improvement of journal quality continues to be encouraged, including towards Scopus indexing in 2027.
In the research field, as many as 32 UPNVJ lecturers received research funding from DPPM in 2026. UPNVJ lecturers also received funding through prototype schemes, research downstreaming, BRIN RIIM Competition, Indonesian Collaborative Research, BKS PTN Barat, as well as a number of international grants and collaborations.
In the area of community service, UPNVJ received funding from the DPPM (Indonesian Community Partnership Fund) for eight Community Partnership Programs and one Nusantara Arts Innovation Program. Based on the 3-Year SINTA ranking, UPNVJ ranks 81st nationally.
UPNVJ also continues to build readiness towards global recognition through participation in THE World University Rankings, submission to QS World University Rankings, and UI GreenMetric 2026 with the target of breaking into the world's top 700.
Most recently, UPNVJ was listed as a Reporter in THE World University Rankings 2027 after participating and submitting institutional data in the ranking process.
"All of this demonstrates that the culture of research, publication, collaboration, and service at UPNVJ continues to grow, and serves as an important asset for us to enhance the university's reputation and contribution, both nationally and internationally," Ria said.
International Student Mobility Increases
Internationalization is also strengthened through international student admissions and student mobility programs. In 2026, UPNVJ accepted two international students through the UPNVJ Scholarship Program: one from Myanmar on a partial scholarship and one from Nigeria on a full scholarship.
UPNVJ also accepted five international students through an exchange program, consisting of four students from Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan, and one student from Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences (RWU), Germany.
In the outward mobility program, Unggul Naval Architecture student Arya Fadilah Muhamad participated in a student exchange at RWU, Germany, and also received the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship.
Meanwhile, Divany Harbina Emzilena Kaban, a law major, and Nyssa Anindya Husna, a communication science major, participated in an exchange program at Ablai Khan University in Kazakhstan. Muhammad Kandripa Ardya Pradana, a management major, participated in an exchange program at Samarkand State University in Uzbekistan.
This two-way mobility is aimed at broadening students' global experience, strengthening the network of partner universities, and building an international academic atmosphere within the UPNVJ environment.
Student Achievement Strengthens Institutional Performance
In terms of governance, in 2026 UPNVJ received the title of Excellence in the Performance Accountability Evaluation, reflecting the university's efforts to strengthen institutional management in an accountable manner and oriented towards improving performance.
Student achievements also show positive progress. As of September 2026, UPNVJ had sent 15 students to six international competitions, with UPNVJ delegates winning all of them.
At the national level, 179 students participated in 97 competitions. Of these, 170 students achieved success in 94 competitions.
Ria expressed her appreciation to students, supervising lecturers, educational staff, and faculty who support student achievement development.
"Hopefully, this achievement will motivate all UPNVJ students to take opportunities, continue to develop their potential, and bring good name to the university at the national and international levels," he said.
Closing her speech, Ria invited all academics to maintain collaboration and consistency in improving the quality of the university.
