UPNVJ Public Relations - The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ) Jakarta (UPNVJ) went directly to Aceh to assist with humanitarian efforts following the flood disaster. The field visit was conducted on January 9, 2026, as part of a collaborative Community Service (PKM) program with the LPPM Chairpersons Forum of the West Region State University Cooperation Agency (FK LPPM BKS PTN Barat).
The team led by Dr. Se .ri Lestari Wahyuningrum, Head of LPPM UPNVJ and Chair of the Forum, and Dr. Firlia Ayu Arini, Head of the Center for Community Service and KKN UPNVJ, reviewed the conditions of the affected communities, identified priority needs, and distributed aid to the right targets.
This activity was facilitated by the Institute for the Study of Samudra University, the Institute for the Study of Malikussaleh University, and the Institute for the Study of Syiah Kuala University, as partners in Aceh. The visit included a visit to Lhok Medang Ara Public Elementary School, which was damaged by flooding for three weeks, resulting in classes being held without chairs and tables. The team then distributed basic food packages and lunch boxes to the Daarul Mukhlisin Islamic Boarding School to meet the basic needs of post-disaster students.
The visit continued to the Karang Baru community, where the team engaged in direct dialogue with residents to assess their immediate recovery needs. The event concluded at the Ayo Cepat Tolong (Let's Help the Rescue Team) post, distributing basic food supplies and supporting the construction of a makeshift prayer room (musholla) that also serves as a place for affected children to learn the Quran.
Through this collaborative PKM, UPNVJ strengthens synergy between universities in supporting the sustainable social, educational, and religious recovery of the Acehnese people. Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., Rector of UPNVJ, stated, "This activity reflects UPNVJ's commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially community service, as part of our policy to contribute to national resilience after the disaster. We will continue to encourage cross-institutional collaboration to increase the positive impact on affected communities."
