UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) held its first flag ceremony of 2026 on Monday morning at the Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Building, Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ. This monthly event was led by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan, as the ceremony instructor, and attended by hundreds of lecturers and educational staff. This ceremony served as a momentum to strengthen the commitment to national defense as the campus's identity, while also conveying the university's strategic achievements as it continues to transform towards excellence.
The ceremony instructor, representing UPNVJ Rector Prof. Anter Venus, emphasized that this activity marks the beginning of a new year to strengthen academic integrity and national values. "This momentum serves as a reminder for the entire UPNVJ academic community to carry out their roles with strong character and a focus on defending the nation," said Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan in his remarks. This statement was delivered amidst the active participation of participants, reflecting the spirit of togetherness within the campus environment.
One of the key achievements highlighted was the signing of a Performance Agreement between the Rector of UPNVJ and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. This agreement affirms the institution's commitment to accountable and results-focused higher education governance, aligned with the national agenda. Furthermore, UPNVJ demonstrated its social role through the involvement of the Disaster Study Center Team of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) in handling flash floods in Aceh Province, strengthening the university's contribution to national disaster mitigation.
To develop its infrastructure, UPNVJ has acquired 7.2 hectares of land in Tangerang for a new campus. This initiative is supported by the construction of four additional classrooms, ten new laboratories, and the SMART Campus concept in Pondok Labu, with a target of increasing student capacity to 20,000 by 2027. This initiative aims to improve educational quality and accessibility for prospective students from various regions.
The ceremony instructor also presented an achievement in December 2025, where UPNVJ achieved 2nd place in the Public Service Agency (BLU) League for the second consecutive year based on the Key Performance Indicators of State Universities. Furthermore, UPNVJ's Public Relations received two awards: the Diktisaintek Public Relations Award and the Informative predicate at the 2025 Public Information Openness Award from the Central Information Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KIP RI). These achievements reflect UPNVJ's dedication to transparency and improving public services.
This achievement is the result of strategic policies focused on improving academic quality and contributing to the nation. "We are committed to realizing UPNVJ as a center of excellence in education that supports national development, with national defense as its primary foundation," he said, addressing the ceremony. The Rector emphasized that this success will serve as the foundation for further innovation, including strengthening research and community service, to bolster public trust in UPNVJ as a national defense campus.
