UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) strengthened the follow-up of its strategic collaboration with Nusantara One through a follow-up meeting in the UPNVJ Rector's Room, Wednesday, May 6, 2026. This meeting discussed the acceleration of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Nusantara Impact Research and Innovation Program, which is aimed at producing collaborative research, innovation, and publications that have an impact on sustainable development in Indonesia.
The meeting was attended by the Chancellor of UPNVJ, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, who was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Acim Heri Iswanto, along with Dr. Charles Bonar Sirait as the Founding Chairman of Nusantara One.
The collaboration between UPNVJ and Nusantara One is outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding numbered 002/NUSANTARAONE-03/2026 and 30/UN61/KS.00.00/2026 dated February 16, 2026. This collaboration focuses on developing research and innovation that supports sustainable development, the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs targets, and the 2060 Net Zero Emissions agenda.
Prior to this follow-up meeting, the two parties had established intensive communication through several official correspondences. These included a letter from the UPNVJ Rector, numbered 612/UN61/TU/2026, dated January 26, 2026, and a positive response letter, numbered 1020/UN61/TU/2026, dated February 18, 2026. Cross-sector support was also beginning to emerge, including an invitation to a discussion from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) regarding strengthening the program.
During the meeting, UPNVJ and Nusantara One agreed on several strategic steps. Priority agenda items discussed included accelerating the signing of the Cooperation Agreement by August 17, 2026, establishing a Program Task Force by May 10, 2026, and developing a national publication strategy, planned to begin in August 2026 through collaboration with various national media outlets.
UPNVJ will also provide institutional support and resources to ensure the program's sustainability. This support includes establishing a joint secretariat, strengthening the implementation team, and establishing a working mechanism to ensure the program's independent implementation starting in May 2026.
The Program Task Force will play an active role in building partnerships with ministries, institutions, the business community, the research community, and other strategic stakeholders. Through this collaborative model, the Nusantara Impact Research and Innovation Program is expected to not only generate academic ideas but also make tangible contributions to solving national problems.
UPNVJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, stated that this collaboration is an important step in strengthening the role of higher education as a driver of national innovation.
"UPNVJ welcomes and is fully committed to the continued collaboration with Nusantara One. The Nusantara Impact Research and Innovation Program is a crucial opportunity to deliver research that is not only academically superior but also has a tangible impact on society and national development. We will ensure that all follow-up actions, including the formation of task forces and strengthening cross-sector collaboration, are timely and focused," said Prof. Venus.
He also emphasized the importance of synergy with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, as the supervising institution, in supporting the successful and sustainable implementation of the program. He stated that university research needs to be directed to be more relevant to the nation's needs, strengthen national competitiveness, and provide direct benefits to society.
Meanwhile, Dr. Charles Bonar Sirait emphasized Nusantara One's readiness to continue strengthening its collaboration with UPNVJ. He stated that this collaboration opens up space for various strategic initiatives with broad impact, particularly in encouraging youth engagement and strengthening the national innovation ecosystem.
As a next step, follow-up meetings will be held periodically. The Task Force coordination meeting is scheduled to begin no later than May 20, 2026, to finalize the implementation strategy, clarify role allocations, and prepare program action plans.
