UPNVJ's 2026 PKMM Equips Student Organization Administrators with Professional Management

UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) held its 2026 Student Management Skills Training (PKMM) at the Merce Building, UPNVJ Limo Campus, Depok, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The training, for student organization administrators, provided participants with the skills to develop work programs, manage resources, organize administration, and build organizational communication. The program aims to strengthen professional, accountable, and adaptive student organization governance, aligned with UPNVJ's vision as a National Defense Campus.

PKMM 2026 is part of UPNVJ's efforts to enhance students' capacity to run organizations in a planned and responsible manner. These skills are considered crucial because student organizations serve not only as a space for developing interests and talents but also as a leadership laboratory for students.

Through organizations, students learn to formulate goals, set priorities, assign roles, manage programs, and make decisions collectively. These experiences are expected to shape young leaders who are capable of working collaboratively, solving problems, and being accountable for every organizational policy.

The Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems of UPNVJ, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Sp.KJ, MH, was present as a resource person with a presentation entitled "Student Organization Governance." In her presentation, Ria emphasized that good governance is an important foundation for the success of student organizations.

According to him, an organization's success isn't solely measured by the number of activities it holds. Organizations also need to ensure each program has a clear purpose, addresses student needs, and benefits the campus and community.

Effective organizational governance, Ria continued, requires thorough planning, clear division of tasks, orderly administration, and responsible resource management. Each element of the organization must also understand their duties, authorities, and the targets they wish to achieve together.

Accountability is a crucial aspect at every stage of an organization's activities, from proposal development and program implementation to budget utilization and reporting. Through transparent working mechanisms, organizations can build trust among their members, students, and the institution.

Ria also emphasized the importance of communication and coordination among members. Differing views within an organization need to be managed through open dialogue, proportional role allocation, and decision-making that prioritizes the common good.

In addition to internal strengthening, synergy between student organizations and the university is needed to ensure that programs remain aligned with UPNVJ's policies and development direction. This collaboration is expected to produce higher-quality, more innovative student activities with measurable impact.

Participants in the 2026 PKMM are expected to apply the knowledge gained in managing their respective organizations. Implementation of the training materials can begin with developing needs-based work programs, establishing an orderly administration system, periodically evaluating activities, and strengthening a collaborative work culture.
