UPNVJ Public Relations – The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) is rearranging the two-wheeled vehicle parking area at the Pondok Labu Campus, South Jakarta, starting Monday, June 15, 2026. Two-wheeled vehicles are no longer allowed to park in front of the Rectorate Building Security Post because the area will be used as the location of the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) and its operational support facilities.
As a replacement, UPNVJ has provided several alternative parking locations, including UPNVJ Parking Area (APU) 1, APU 2 on Jalan Rangu, and the parking area in front of the cafeteria. The two main areas, APU 1 and APU 2, have a capacity of at least 650 motorcycles for use by students and staff.
UPNVJ's Head of General Affairs, Taufik Muih, explained that the repurposing of the parking area is part of the university's efforts to respond to the growing use of electric vehicles on campus. The SPKLU is expected to provide additional facilities for academics using electric vehicles.
"The area in front of the security post is planned to become a charging station. We need to respond to the growing use of electric vehicles, including the possibility of electric vehicles used by students, by providing charging facilities," Taufik said in an interview with the UPNVJ Public Relations Team on Thursday (June 18, 2026).
According to Taufik, parking diversions won't be limited to one location. Motorcycle users can choose parking areas based on their capacity and proximity to campus activities.
APU 1 has four floors and can accommodate approximately 350 motorcycles. The university also provides a parking area in front of the cafeteria as an alternative for students and staff.
UPNVJ has also prepared APU 2 on Jalan Rangu with a capacity of around 300 motorcycles. The area is equipped with parking lines or markings to help users park their vehicles in a more orderly manner.
"APU 2 is ready for use. We have provided parking lines for two-wheeled vehicles with a capacity of approximately 300 motorcycles, for both employees and students," said Taufik.
To maintain vehicle security, UPNVJ plans to place a security officer at APU 2. This step is necessary so that the provision of parking space is also supported by an adequate security system.
"Besides ensuring the space is available, we must ensure the area is secure. Therefore, we have prepared a plan to deploy one security officer," he said.
Starting in early July 2026, students are also expected to be able to use the partner parking area located behind the Faculty of Computer Science (FIK). The provision of several parking spots is intended to distribute vehicles so they don't pile up in one area.
For vehicles still found parked in prohibited areas, UPNVJ will temporarily issue a warning and move the vehicle to a designated area. More detailed sanctions provisions will still be developed by the university.
Taufik stated that the vehicle relocation was carried out to maintain safety, smooth mobility, and order on campus. Vehicles parked on roads or in converted areas have the potential to impede road users and other operational activities.
"For the time being, vehicles will be moved to safer parking areas. Parking on the street or in restricted areas can disrupt passing vehicles and road users," he said.
The SPKLU construction will involve a third party and will be handled further by a unit authorized for facility planning and management. Information regarding the form of cooperation, construction stages, and benefits of SPKLU management will be provided separately by the relevant unit.
The parking arrangement aligns with UPNVJ's facility development, which prioritizes order, security, comfort, and the needs of the academic community. Under the leadership of UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., campus infrastructure development is geared toward not only functionality but also adaptability to technological advancements and support a more sustainable campus environment.
All students, faculty, educational staff, and visitors are encouraged to use official parking spaces and comply with posted signs and instructions. Compliance by campus residents is crucial to creating an orderly, safe, comfortable, and welcoming UPNVJ environment for all users.
