UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) determined the four prospective rector candidates for the 2026–2030 term through an open drawing conducted in a hybrid format on Tuesday (July 21, 2026). Witnessed by members of the University Senate, the Rector Election Committee, and the academic community, this stage is part of UPNVJ's efforts to ensure a transparent, fair, and accountable leadership transition process. Following the drawing of the numbers, the prospective candidates are scheduled to present their vision, mission, and work programs on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

The Chairperson of the UPNVJ Chancellor Election Committee, Silvia Anggraeni, ST, M.Sc. , Ph.D., stated that the UPNVJ Chancellor Election will be conducted based on UPNVJ Senate Regulation Number 2 of 2026 and the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 19 of 2017 concerning the Appointment and Dismissal of State University Leaders. The committee has also established the rules of procedure for the session and the schedule for each stage of the election in accordance with applicable regulations.

Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 19 of 2017 is one of the legal bases for the appointment and dismissal of leaders of state universities.

Based on the administrative examination results, four of the six applicants were deemed to have met the requirements to proceed to the next stage. The four prospective candidates come from various universities and possess leadership experience and a track record in higher education management.

The results of the draw determined the serial numbers of the prospective UPNVJ Chancellor candidates for the 2026–2030 period as follows:

Serial Number 1: Dr. Sakroni, S.ST. , M.Pd., from Bandung Social Welfare Polytechnic;

Serial Number 2: Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., from UPN “Veteran” Jakarta;

Serial Number 3: Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, SH, M.Ag. , from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta; and

Serial Number 4: Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, SE, M.Si. , MH, Ak., CA., CPA., from the Indonesian University of Education.

The Chair of the UPNVJ Senate, Dr. Irsyaf Marsal, SH, MH, emphasized that the drawing of the ballot numbers was not only an administrative stage, but also reflected the University Senate's commitment to implementing the principles of good university governance.

"The drawing of these ballot numbers is not merely an administrative step, but a manifestation of the UPN Veteran Jakarta Senate's commitment to ensuring that the entire Rector Election process is carried out openly, fairly, and transparently, and provides equal opportunities to all prospective candidates," said Irsyaf.

He hopes that all stages can take place in an orderly manner and in accordance with regulations so that they can produce the best leaders for UPNVJ.

"We invite the entire academic community to prioritize the spirit of unity, uphold academic ethics, and respect each established stage," he said.

According to Irsyaf, differences in choice are part of the dynamics of democracy within higher education. However, all elements of the university share the same goal: to provide leadership capable of leading UPNVJ to greater progress, excellence, competitiveness, and tangible contributions to society, the nation, and the state.

After the drawing of the ballot numbers, the UPNVJ Chancellor Election stage will continue with the presentation of the prospective candidates' vision, mission, and work programs on Thursday, July 30, 2026, starting at 08.00 WIB at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, 4th Floor, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus.

The agenda will provide space for each prospective candidate to present their strategic ideas, program priorities, and direction for UPNVJ's development during the 2026–2030 leadership period. This stage will also provide an opportunity for the Senate and academic community to assess the leadership capacity and relevance of the programs offered by each prospective candidate.

By conducting each stage openly, objectively, and accountably, UPNVJ affirms its commitment to implementing the principles of good university governance. The selection process is expected to produce visionary and virtuous leaders, while also maintaining the continuity of institutional transformation, strengthening the quality of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, and enhancing UPNVJ's reputation as a National Defense Campus at the national and international levels.
