UPNVJ Co-Hosts the West Java State University Journal Conference, Encouraging International Indexing

Public Relations of UPNVJ – The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) together with the University of Lampung co-hosted the 2026 West PTN BKS Journal Managers Conference which took place at the University of Lampung Rectorate Building, July 9–10, 2026. This activity brought together journal managers from 39 state universities to strengthen the governance of scientific publications towards international indexing.

The conference, themed "Strengthening National Journal Governance Towards International Indexing and Collaboration in Scientific Publications of the West Nusa Tenggara State University Research and Development Agency," was attended by representatives from 18 universities in person, while the remaining participants attended online. The event was opened by the Rector of the University of Lampung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lusmeilia Afriani, DEA, IPM.

The Chairperson of the LPPM BKS PTN West Region Chairperson Forum and Chairperson of LPPM UPNVJ, Dr. Sri Lestari Wahyuningroem, MA, Ph.D., said that this conference was the first forum that specifically brought together journal managers within the BKS PTN West Region environment.

"This forum is expected to strengthen collaboration between journal managers, starting from developing reviewer networks, strengthening institutions, to increasing human resource capacity so that BKS PTN Barat journals gain international recognition," said Sri Lestari.

Several speakers discussed global publication trends, national journal accreditation policies, academic integrity in the era of artificial intelligence, and strategies for improving journals toward SINTA 1 rankings and international indexing. Participants also learned about best practices in managing reputable journals from editors of internationally indexed journals from the University of Lampung.

This conference marks a strategic step by the West Nusa Tenggara State University (PTN Barat) BKS in building a professional, sustainable, and adaptive journal ecosystem to the development of global scientific publications. UPNVJ's involvement as co-host underscores the university's commitment to expanding research collaboration and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian scientific publications.
