UPNVJ Public Relations — The Student Executive Board of the Veteran National Development University Jakarta (BEM UPNVJ) is expanding the downstream distribution of Aroma Cijantur Coffee to Thailand through the Gelora Dwi Bangsa program. This program introduces coffee innovations developed by the community of Cijantur Village, Bogor Regency, to the coffee shop ecosystem in Nakhon Si Thammarat and the academic community at Walailak University. This initiative combines community economic empowerment, product innovation, and cross-border student diplomacy. (31/7/26)
Aroma Cijantur Coffee is a product developed through community support in Cijantur Hamlet, Rabak Village, Rumpin District, Bogor Regency, West Java. Previous UPNVJ empowerment programs have encouraged residents to increase the added value of coffee, from bean processing and packaging to strengthening digital marketing.
Through Gelora Dwi Bangsa, the UPNVJ Student Executive Board (BEM) brought the product development to Thailand in the form of drip bag coffee and an innovative infused drip bag coffee. This development aimed to expand the consumer segment, particularly the younger generation, while simultaneously testing the potential of local products in a broader market ecosystem. In 2026, the Aroma Cijantur innovation was also developed in several flavors and introduced at UPNVJ's international event in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
UPNVJ Student Executive Board Deputy Chair Jodhy Farrel Budiman said the program stems from the view that student organizations need to be learning spaces that generate direct benefits for the community.
"We at BEM UPNVJ believe in the organization's vital role as a student laboratory, whose primary output is directly aimed at sustainable community development. Therefore, there are no boundaries—either in terms of innovation or territorial boundaries—for us to continue to move freely and make a real impact," said Jodhy.
In addition to introducing Aroma Cijantur products, Gelora Dwi Bangsa was developed as a space for student diplomacy through knowledge exchanges with student organizations at Walailak University, Thailand. Students discussed the characteristics of student organization movements in Indonesia and Thailand and opportunities to increase social impact through sustainable empowerment programs.
At the forum, the UPNVJ Student Executive Board (BEM) presented a roadmap for empowering Cijantur Village, encompassing community mentoring, product development, downstream processing, and expanding market access. The model served as a platform for exchanging ideas on how student organizations can connect campus knowledge to concrete solutions to community problems.
The meeting also included an introduction and distribution of samples of Aroma Cijantur's innovative products, as well as the presentation of an appreciation plaque from the Walailak University student organization. Both organizations then opened up opportunities to explore further collaboration in student activities and knowledge exchange in the future.
The student collaboration comes amidst the growing relationship between UPNVJ and Walailak University, which encompasses various academic and non-academic activities. UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., previously emphasized that the collaboration with Walailak University includes summer courses, guest lectures, and joint international community service. According to him, this international network is aimed at supporting UPNVJ's vision of becoming a leading and globally competitive university.
Through Gelora Dwi Bangsa, student involvement in UPNVJ's international network is further expanded into community empowerment. The Aroma Cijantur initiative demonstrates how student organization activities can connect campus innovation, village economic potential, and global networks to generate sustainable impact.
