UPNVJ Public Relations - The Student Regiment (Menwa) of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) expanded its contribution to national defense education through the National Insight and National Defense Behavior (PKBN) Development activity at the Al-Hikam Qur'an College (STKQ) in Depok, Saturday (29/8/2026). A number of UPNVJ Menwa personnel were involved as trainers for male and female students through field training and classroom learning. The activity was aimed at strengthening national insight, discipline, leadership, and awareness of the younger generation regarding their role in building the nation.

The involvement of the UPNVJ Menwa began with an invitation from Haris Iriyanto, A.Md., S.Sos., M.Pd., QRMO., as the National Defense Facilitator and Head of the Menwa Yon-6 UPN Alumni Corps. Following up on the invitation, the UPNVJ Menwa Command assigned five personnel to support the implementation of PKBN as trainers.

The training combined physical training, strengthening teamwork, and deepening national education. During the field sessions, participants participated in Marching Training (PBB) and a number of group games designed to develop discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, physical endurance, and mental toughness.

This approach doesn't simply position participants as recipients of material. Through group exercises, male and female students are encouraged to understand the importance of communication, coordination, responsibility, and the ability to work together to achieve goals.

Meanwhile, classroom learning sessions focused on strengthening national insight and the meaning of national defense in everyday life. Participants were encouraged to understand that contributions to the nation can be made through various professions and areas of expertise they pursue in the future.

For UPNVJ Menwa personnel, their involvement as trainers also provides a platform for capacity building. The experience of directly assisting participants hones their field mentoring, leadership, communication, and public speaking skills. This activity also demonstrates the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through student contributions to community development.

The UPNVJ Menwa Team involved consisted of Alberto Muhammad Gusti Putro as Supervisory Officer and Deputy Unit Commander, Rani Meiliana Putri as Logistics Non-Commissioned Officer, and three Headquarters Detachment personnel, namely Muhammad Farizqy, Pasha Mahesa Makasutji, and Haikal Irfansyah Putra.

The PKBN series then closed with the National Defense Spirit Fire Ceremony. The lighting of the fire is a symbol of the fighting spirit, nationalism and determination of the participants to maintain the spirit of service to the nation and state. These values are in line with the spirit of Widya Castrena Dharma Siddha which is the foundation of the Student Regiment's service.

UPNVJ's Menwa contribution to coaching at Al-Hikam also aligns with the direction of strengthening the national defense character at UPNVJ. UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm. previously emphasized that national defense needs to be part of students' identity from the beginning of their campus life. Through student involvement in community activities such as PKBN, the value of national defense goes beyond conceptual understanding, but is implemented through leadership, discipline, concern, and real contributions to society.
