UPNVJ Public Relations – The “Veteran” National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) took swift action in response to the impact of the spread of volcanic ash due to the eruption by distributing 2,000 masks to campus residents, Monday (7/9/2026).

The distribution of masks was led directly by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems of UPNVJ, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Sp.KJ., MH. Masks were distributed in the UPNVJ canteen area to students, education staff, canteen employees, security officers, office boys, and other campus residents who continued to carry out activities amidst the air conditions affected by volcanic ash.

This step was taken as a form of rapid response and preventive effort by UPNVJ to protect the health of campus residents, especially those with high mobility and activities in open areas.

"We want to ensure that the entire campus community remains protected. Not just students, lecturers, and educational staff, but also our colleagues who work and support campus activities every day, from security officers and canteen staff to office workers. They are all part of the UPNVJ family and we must protect them together," said Ria.

He added that distributing masks was not just a preventative measure, but also a form of concern for all elements of the campus environment. "In conditions like these, the most important thing is to care for each other and not neglect your health. We hope these masks can help reduce the risk of ash exposure, especially for those who still have to work and engage in activities outside," he said.

UPNVJ also urges all campus residents to limit outdoor activities unless absolutely necessary, wear masks in open areas, maintain personal hygiene, and seek medical help immediately if they experience health complaints such as coughing, shortness of breath, or eye irritation.

The distribution of 2,000 masks also demonstrates the values of National Defense, demonstrated through care, solidarity, and concrete actions to ensure the safety of others. UPNVJ will continue to monitor developments and adjust protective measures for the campus community as the situation evolves.
