UPNVJ Public Relations – The Senate of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) determined three candidates for UPNVJ Rector for the 2026–2030 Period through a closed senate meeting in the Nusantara 1 Meeting Room, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus, Jakarta, Thursday (30/7/2026). Of the 34 votes cast by Senate members, candidate number 2, Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MA, Comm., received 30 votes. The selection results will then be submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to participate in the rector election stage with the Minister.
The other two candidates are candidate number 3, Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, SH, M.Ag., and candidate number 4, Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, SE, M.Sc., MH, Ak., CA., CPA. Both received two votes each.
The three names were then confirmed by the Chair of the UPNVJ Senate, Dr. Irsyaf Marsal, SH, MH, as candidates for rector who are entitled to continue the UPNVJ Rector Election process for the 2026–2030 period.
The voting took place after the four prospective rector candidates presented their vision, mission, and work programs at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium on the UPNVJ Pondok Labu campus on the same day. The forum provided each candidate with the opportunity to explain the university's policy direction, development strategies, and priority programs they would implement if entrusted with leading UPNVJ.
Based on the recapitulation results, the vote tally for the four prospective UPNVJ Chancellor candidates for the 2026–2030 period is as follows:
1. Serial number 1, Dr. Sakroni, S.ST ., M.Pd.: 0 votes;
2. Number 2, Prof. Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MA, Comm.: 30 votes;
3. Number 3, Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Halim, SH, M.Ag.: 2 votes; and
4. Number 4, Prof. Dr. Memen Kustiawan, SE, M.Si., MH, Ak., CA., CPA.: 2 votes.
The results of the vote were outlined in a senate meeting decision, which served as the basis for determining three rector candidates. This stage was part of a screening process to determine candidates whose track record, leadership capacity, vision for university development, and work program aligned with UPNVJ's needs were assessed.
The appointment of the three candidates marks the end of the UPNVJ Senate's selection process. The results will then be submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology for processing in a joint ministerial selection process. This process will result in the elected rector who will lead UPNVJ for the 2026–2030 term.
The rector election plays a strategic role in determining the sustainability of UPNVJ's academic and institutional transformation. The elected rector is expected to strengthen the quality of education, research, community service, governance, digital transformation, and the university's reputation at the national and international levels.
Through this series of elections, UPNVJ affirmed its commitment to providing leadership with integrity, accountability, and a focus on improving the quality of education. The upcoming leadership period is also expected to continue UPNVJ's transformation into a superior National Defense Campus that is impactful to society and globally competitive.
