UPNVJ Public Relations – Veteran National Development University Jakarta (UPNVJ) held futsal and badminton competitions on Wednesday–Thursday, August 5–6, 2026, as part of a series of events commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence. Both sports involved employees from various work units in inter-unit competitions to strengthen togetherness, solidarity, and sportsmanship within the university.

The activities are implemented in accordance with Circular Letter Number 103 of 2026 concerning Activities to Commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at UPN "Veteran" Jakarta. The commemoration will take place from August 4–18, 2026, featuring competitions, an independence ceremony, and a bazaar.

Futsal and badminton are the opening two of the 11 competitions prepared by UPNVJ. Employee involvement in these sports competitions provides a space for interaction between work units outside of the routine of academic and administrative services.

In futsal competitions, participants must be registered as active employees working at UPNVJ. Each player is required to wear a complete futsal uniform and equipment during the match.

The committee also requires representatives from each team to attend technical meetings and submit a list of players who will compete. This requirement is in place to ensure all participants understand the rules and ensure the match proceeds in an orderly manner.

Meanwhile, the badminton competition took place over two days at the Putra Perdana Cilobak Sports Hall. Three categories were contested: men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles, with participants from work units within the UPNVJ campus.

Each participant is required to bring their own match equipment, including sportswear, rackets, and special badminton shoes. Players who have already competed in the men's or women's doubles categories are still permitted to compete in the mixed doubles category.

The two competitions are part of UPNVJ's policy to involve lecturers and educational staff in the commemoration of Indonesia's independence. Through a circular, the heads of each work unit were asked to send representatives to participate in a series of activities commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

After the sports competition, the celebration continued with nine competitions on Friday, August 14, 2026. The activities included a fashion show made from recycled materials, cooking fried rice, dancing or Physical Fitness Exercises, eating crackers, inserting water using a funnel, balloon covers, balls using ropes, snakes and ladders balloons, and decorating the room.

UPNVJ also scheduled an independence commemoration ceremony for Monday, August 17, 2026, in the field in front of the Dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo Building, UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine. The series of activities will then conclude with an Independence Bazaar on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, which is open to the entire academic community.

Through futsal and badminton matches, UPNVJ not only presents competitions to celebrate Independence Day but also creates a meeting space for employees from various work units. The spirit of discipline, cooperation, and sportsmanship in these matches is expected to strengthen togetherness and the values of national defense within UPNVJ.
