The Faculty of Medicine of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (FK UPNVJ) strengthened the sustainability of its international partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) through a meeting on Thursday (September 3, 2026). The meeting discussed plans to extend the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which serves as the foundation for cooperation between the two institutions, while also opening up opportunities for developing collaborations in education, research, academic activities, and human resource capacity building. This step is aimed at ensuring the partnership between FK UPNVJ and UiTM continues to grow through programs that benefit the academic communities of both universities.
The meeting resulted in an initial understanding to continue the collaboration and follow up on the MoU extension process. The two institutions also discussed the possibility of developing joint academic activities as a step to strengthen the existing institutional relationship.
From the Faculty of Medicine UiTM, the meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazlyna Baharuddin as Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Rosfaiizah Siran, and faculty members. Meanwhile, the FK UPNVJ delegation was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, Dr. dr. Taufiq Fredrik Pasiak, M.Kes., M.Pd.I., SH, MH, CIPA, along with the FK UPNVJ Deanship staff.
In this discussion, FK UPNVJ and UiTM placed the extension of the MoU not merely as an administrative continuation, but as a basis for expanding cooperation that can be implemented in academic activities. Collaboration is directed at strengthening education and research, exchanging knowledge and academic experience, and developing the capacity of lecturers and students.
Sustainable partnerships are crucial because inter-university relationships allow both institutions to share experiences, academic practices, and expertise in developing medical education. This network also creates space for more productive joint activities that are relevant to the needs of higher education and the development of health sciences.
For the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ, strengthening its relationship with UiTM is also part of its efforts to expand its academic network in Southeast Asia. The international partnership is expected to enhance the academic experience of its academic community while creating opportunities for research collaborations that combine the competencies and resources of both institutions.
With this in mind, the extension of the MoU between the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UPNVJ and UiTM is expected to serve as a foundation for more measurable, productive, and sustainable program implementation. This partnership also reinforces UPNVJ's commitment to building an international higher education network that goes beyond institutional agreements and generates knowledge exchange, enhanced education and research, and tangible benefits for the academic communities of both universities.
