UPNVJ Public Relations – The Faculty of Medicine of the Veteran National Development University Jakarta (FK UPNVJ) is expanding its international network by exploring the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The exploration took place during a visit by a UPNVJ FK delegation to the UPM Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences on Friday (September 4, 2026). The two institutions identified opportunities for collaboration in education, research, webinars, guest lectures, and various scientific activities as a first step in building a sustainable academic partnership.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Michael Ling King Hwa, Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, UPM, along with staff from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a delegation from the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ. Discussions focused on plans for institutional collaboration, the drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and the identification of programs that could be implemented jointly by both institutions.

Through this exploration, FK UPNVJ encourages international cooperation so that it does not stop at institutional relations, but can be developed into academic programs that provide direct benefits for lecturers, students, and researchers.

Several opportunities were discussed, including hosting webinars, guest lectures, scientific activities, and developing academic collaborations in medicine, biomedical sciences, and health. This mapping serves as a basis for both institutions to determine priority programs that can be pursued after the collaboration document is drafted.

The meeting began with an introduction to the profiles and academic potential of each university. The delegation then discussed the scope of the draft MoU and the possibility of developing joint activities based on the academic fields and capacities of the UPNVJ and UPM Faculties.

The exploration with UPM also opens up opportunities for the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UPNVJ to expand international exposure for its academic community. Collaboration with foreign universities is expected to enrich knowledge exchange, expand research networks, and provide cross-border academic experiences.

During the visit, the UPNVJ FK delegation consisted of Dr. dr. Taufiq Fredrik Pasiak, M.Kes., M.Pd.I., MH, CIPA; dr. Sri Wahyuningsih, M.Kes., Sp.KKLP; dr. Erna Harfiani, M.Si ., Sp.KKLP; Primayanti Nurul Ilmi, B.Sc . Pharm., M.Sc .; and Desi Purwaningsih, S.Pd., M.Si .

The series of activities included the presentation of a plaque as a symbol of the good relationship between the two institutions and concluded with a joint documentation session. From the meeting, the Faculty of Medicine, UPNVJ, and UPM reached an initial understanding to continue drafting the MoU and develop feasible forms of academic collaboration.

The exploration with UPM is part of this effort, while also strengthening the position of the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine in building a medical and health education ecosystem that is increasingly collaborative and connected to international academic networks.
